The three key staff members in the human resource department have vast knowledge of the company, and will be of great help to Lance.For instance, Jane Reynolds, who is the special assistant to the human resource manager, made very significant contributions during the meeting with Lance. She pointed out critical observations and recommendations which when put into practice can speedily help revive the company. She recognized the importance of having the right type of human resources, with the right attitude and determination to deliver timely results. This is the most important aspect of the managerial function, since it not the right tools that gets the work done but the right employee that get the work done in the right way (Hendry 2012). Additionally, all employees must be well recruited, selected, trained, inducted and motivated to increase their productivity.Jane also pointed out the need to effectively integrate the strategic and operational planning processes in the company .These recommendations will help the company to determine in advance what should be accomplished first, and how it should be realized. Besides, it will also help describe the path which the organization should follow, in order to achieve its goals, most effectively and efficiency. The discussion with the key managers was of its kind, since many operational plans were discussed and Lance need to consider putting them in place, for the success of the company. The overall success of the company is determined solely by the succes s of its various departments, which must be well managed (Hendry 2012).Besides considering all the proposals he obtained from their discussion meetings, Lance as a learned and new human resource manager, must bring in his expertise to manage the project well. Most importantly, he must play interpersonal role to enable him relate well with every employee he is going to work with. Notably, when the manager relates well with the employees, the employees feels motivated and develops right attitude for the work. The manager should also exercise information role, to enable him continue acquiring very vital information on how to run a successful human resource department (Hendry 2012). He can also engage in carrying out external or internal benchmarking to enable him to emulate what the best practices companies are doing to excel.
